Myron Rolle to legally change name to Rick Rolle

myronrolleFLORIDA- Myron Rolle yet made another big announcement today that raised the titan fan’s eyebrow again. During a local interview, Rolle corrected the reporter who called his name by saying he would now like to be addressed as Rick, and not Myron. The reporter asked why, and Rolle responded, “because I don’t want people to think I’m a person that gives up my dreams or lets people down. Just because of my latest media reports, people still shouldn’t think I’m just going to run around or desert them. ”

We weren’t going to interview Rolle but after hearing that response, we felt it was rofljock worthy. The younger reporters giggled at his wit but the older reporters including the interviewer apparently didn’t get the irony. The interviewer then followed up with, “but what does that have to do with being called Rick? Your name would be Rick Rolle?”. Rolle just smiled, and ignored the reporter, picking up his ‘advanced practices in medicine’ encyclopedia and reading while huming to the tune of Rick Astley’s “Never gonna give you up”.

hey kidz

hi.. whats new..

just came by to acknowledge what’s been one of my least productive weeks ever.. (no stories and no new video of the week) after one of my most productive weeks ever (all stories written by me).. so one can say we’re even.. right?

anyway.. ive been sick today.. yes the day i was going to announce that we’re going to start updating biweekly now.. so i’ll just announce it.. errm.. right now..

we’re going to be putting out new stories twice a week… Look for new stories every Monday and Thursday. There will still only be one ‘video of the week’ and the stories on thursday would not block out the ones written on Monday.

Either way just log on and read the damn stories!

What else? Oh yeah… Sports related stuff.. let’s get to it..

It’s no secret my team, the Spurs, are getting their asses beat right now. This gives the average Suns fan a boner I can tell.. i don’t blame them.. beating the Spurs in the playoffs alone is an achievement in itself..

which other spurs fan enjoyed it as much as i did when we started getting blunders like Richard Jefferson traveling and Tim Duncan missing a layup :D ?

Anyways.. who caught the Orlando / Atlanta game? No not the first game where Atlanta got their asses handed to, but the second game where Atlanta got their asses handed to. Seriously, should this even be considered a playoff series? This is the worst showing, of talent disparity between the top seeds and the bottom in the East. Or should I say, the best showing? Somehow I have a feeling Milwaukee would’ve given Orlando a tougher run… This is the same Milwaukee that surprised me when I actually heard they were in the playoffs; I had no idea they were doing that well. They took Atlanta to 7 games without their star player, that alone is shameful of Atlanta in itself. They shouldn’t deserve to win. At this point, it’d be a paradox seeing Atlanta win one game against the Magic. If they did, it’d probably be a buzzer beater desperation fullcourt shot. On a side note.. in a couple of weeks, i’m going to be participating on a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. I talk all this smack about NBA players, lets see if i can walk the walk. I’ll provide pics and video :D .

OK back to the site.. Can anyone like write my co authors a letter or post a comment here begging them to put their 2 cents on anything on their blogs? I’m kinda getting tired of brushing up the cobwebs on their pages. This is what i saw when I went back to PBeezy’s blog for example.

Oh yeah.. another thing.. the funny cats at slamdumb.com gave me a knee slapper the other day. Check it out

They’re good guys over there.. haha-larious as i like to say.. check out their other comics and articles also.

Wow.. I must say that’s a good load of basketball talk in one sitting.. especially on a site that claims to cover a lot of sports and not just basketball.. can’t help it.. we’re just basketball heads. It’s what’s being shoved down our throats from the media the most right now. That, and baseball.. we don’t have much baseball prowess right now but we’re trying.

Our favorite team, the Oakland Raiders made headlines by cutting former #1 overall pick, Jamarcus Russell.

Russell: father forgive them.. for they know not what they do..

Yeah I know, the highest achievement by Jamarcus is being the #1 overall pick. I mean, I admire this guy. He’s smart as hell. He totally Rick Astley’d the Raiders organization by impressing them to the point they picked him over 300 other athletes that year. Hey they needed a quarterback.. you can’t blame them for picking him over players like Calvin Johnson, Patrick Willis and Adrian Peterson. Brady Quinn was the next best QB available and he’s had a better career than Russell. See, I say Russel’s smart because after holding out big time to get that max contract of whatever it was, I believe he got immediately to investing that money, because, I mean.. be serious.. he got a 68 million dollar contract.. imagine what you and i could do with that money. I sure as hell wouldn’t wanna risk getting hurt out there when I already got my money in the bank.Hell.. I’d do what Jamarcus did even if i got a 10 thousand dollar contract instead.. get drafted.. sign the contract.. and then..tank the career.. He probably lives in some nice two bedroom apartment that has rent like 650 bucks a month. Russel is set. Maybe he may have more things to do on his free time like play football or something..

anyways.. I’m all out of blog ideas now.. how was that? I’m still getting used to this blogging thing.. It’s new.. work with me here.. I’ll try to get more stuff out there.. blogs n’ stories n’ whatever else you can possibly find on this site.. feel free to post a comment below.. let me know if my audience actually consists of real human beings.. I’m already a hit with the spambots..

alright.. over and out..

Top NFL prospects giving Al Davis rejection phone number

Al DavisNEW YORK – In a move typically saved for girls to avoid giving a guy her real phone number, some rookies in this year’s NFL draft are giving Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis a phone number that lets the caller know that they are not interested. This way, if Davis attempts to call them on draft day, and automated recording will let him know that they are not interested in playing for him, and do not want him to have their real contact information.

Former Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant is credited with first pulling off the move, fearing that he is one of Davis’ favorite prospects.

“Let’s be honest,” said Bryant, “We all know ol’ Al loves him some speedy wide receivers. I don’t want to immediately ruin my career by starting with the Raiders, so I thought it’d be funny to give him the rejection number so he can’t call me on draft day.”

Eric Berry, former Tennessee stand out defensive back, quickly followed Bryant’s lead.

“When I heard about what Dez did, I thought it was a fantastic idea. I was worried that Al would realize it was the same number, but his ancient ass had no clue.”

Oakland Raiders management is working on getting a phone with large keys, so Davis can attempt to contact his sections on draft day.

Nationals pitcher Strasburg sent to minors to give MLB hitters a chance

mlb_a_strasburg01_300
VIERA, Fla- After striking out most of the Washington Nationals hitters during intrasquad scrimmages this spring, the team has sent their top pick, and top pitching prospect Stephen Strasburg to Double-A Harrisburg to start the season. Washington feared that with Strasburg dominating against his own team, the Nationals hitters would not get a chance to work on their mechanics before the season started. The team struggled offensively in 2009, and is hoping to improve on that in 2010.

“We had no choice but to get him out of here for now,” said Nationals GM Mike Rizzo. “He is is only 21 and has no professional experience. Do you know how much of an embarrassment that is to our hitters who cannot make contact against him?”

The Nationals weren’t the only team happy to see him leave major league game either. After striking out eight Detroit Tigers hitters in only four innings last week, Detroit manager Jim Leyland said, “It is just not fair to use him in spring. No hitters will be able to gain any confidence this spring if he just shuts them down.”

With the lack of talent on Nationals squad, expect Strasburg to be back with the Nationals within the first 2 months of the season.

Clausen not so thrilled about NFL after hearing Kiper’s prediction

jimmy-clausenSOUTH BEND, Ind- Notre Dame quarterback and projected top 5 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Jimmy Clausen, is no longer eager to begin his professional career. After seeing draft guru Mel Kiper’s projection of him, Clausen does not even believe in himself and his ability to compete in the NFL. Kiper marked down Clausen for weak arm strength and low accuracy.

“The man has been doing nothing but draft analysis for years,” the second team All-American said of Kiper, “he is probably never ever wrong. He marked me down and I doubt there is anything I can do to improve my skill level to impress him.”

NFL teams are now wary of Clausen too. One NFL scout said, “if the kid doesn’t even believe in himself, how does he expect any team to draft him?” A team is not going to want a quarterback who is not capable of leading the team.

Still, Clausen is expected to be one of the first 3 quarterbacks chosen in the April draft.

2nd overall pick Hasheem Thabeet headed to D-League

We got Thabeet, we got Thabeet, we got Thabeet!! yeayyy we got Thabeet!!.. Well looks like that’s the tune the Dakota Wizards are gonna be singing real soon because the 2nd overall pick for 2009-2010 just got sent there from the Grizzlies. So what? he sucks right? Well the thing is, this is the highest draft pick ever to get sent to the d-league in their rookie year.

Does this mean Thabeet is a 2nd overall bust? I honestly can’t tell you, because I don’t watch enough Memphis games, but I can’t say I recall ESPN or NBA.com saying anything about Thabeet except the fact that he plays for the Grizzlies. Infact, there was a point where i forgot who the #2 overall pick for the draft was. I had to think hard for a moment, so hard I was contemplating googling it.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=2nd+nba+overall+pick+2010

YES.. GOOGLE.. I’m not a ditz when it comes to basketball and the NBA but you gotta be with me on this one..

Also, I’ll play Thabeet’s advocate here and say, when you’re known more for your post defense, and at the same time we all know you’re not Dikembe Mutombo Jr., it’s going to be hard to get playing time when you’re competing with Marc Gasol and the monstar that took over Zach Randolph’s body this season.

which one would randolph be?

However, the d-league is meant for the young athletes to hone in on their game and develop it. They’re more likely to get more PT over there that can help them, rather than warm the bench in Memphis which I assume he’s doing right now.

The questions still remain tho, did memphis get what they wanted in Thabeet afterall? I don’t recall if they made the trade for Randolph before or after the pick but even still, you’ve got rookies in the mix like Evans, Curry, Jennings, ETC. Thabeet wasn’t even in the rookie/sophomore game, but Blair was ;) .

What’s your take on this?

Does this move establish Thabeet as a bust already? or is there still a bright future ahead for the 2nd overall pick?

Oakland Raiders among interested teams in getting Amare Stoudemire

OAKLAND- It’s no secret Amare Stoudemire’s name has been one of the most discussed this February in the scheme of NBA potential trades. It appears what makes the Suns so sure-fire of trading him is his expiring contract and what makes teams so interested is his talent and what he can do to just about any front court in the league. However, one team did surprise the media though, as it was rumored that Oakland Raiders’ owner Al Davis has been expressing interest in acquiring Stoudemire as well.

Davis couldn’t be reached for comment due to bad timing by us. We failed to contact him due to visiting during his 12 PM nap time. A spokesperson kind enough to comment to us said, “Al doesn’t even know who Amare is, I think he’s mixing him up with some other random big black guy, but hey. Big Al knows best.”

Al has had an unimpressive track record lately with drafting high picked players and has had fans and staff members worried if he actually knows what he’s doing. Unfortunately, no one’s willing to speak up as they fear they may be fired or ambushed by their fellow raider fans.

Minnesota T’Wolves plan to draft Britney Griner

Current Baylor forward, Britney Griner has turned lots of heads with her spectular play during her freshman year. “We’ve never had a player like this in Baylor’s history. “We’ve made a lot of progress in women’s college basketball recently and having a player like Griner gives us great potential in our near future.” said the excited women’s coach.

Not only the Coach has been impressed, the fans of Baylor as well as the fans of women’s basketball in general have been wowed by her prowess and gifts to the sport. However, one interesting person what was impressed was T’wolves GM, David Kahn.

“I went to one of her games when I was in town doing some scouting of my own. Boy oh boy, i’ve never seen any player as impressed as Griner.” Said Kahn. We did remind Kahn that even though Britney is impressive, why would he be interested in scouting at a women’s college basketball game. Kahn did remind us that there is no rule preventing women from joining the NBA but also he said he wanted to make clean with his harshest critics by not drafting a point guard this upcoming season.

We seriously questioned Kahn to the best of our ablility, especially for the sake of the Timberwolves organization. We mentioned there were great non-PG male prospects in Texas he could consider, like Donnie Avery of Texas and Aubrey Coleman of Houston, but we dont’ think he heard us. He just appeared hypnotized and marvelled by Griner’s dominance in the post. “I’m definitely drafting her” said Kahn. “We need that X factor, she reminds me alot of Tayshaun Prince!”

Tim Tebow opts to play in Senior Bowl; hopes to get noticed by media.

tebow

Tim Tebow, Florida Gators QB, has just completed his final year with the Gators, however, this is only the beginning of his hopeful illustrious career in the sport of football.

After playing 4 years at Florida, and getting awarded with accolades like SEC All-Freshman Team, Davey O’Brien Award, Heisman Trophy, 2x Maxwell Award, Sportingnews Player of the year, Harley Award, NCAA QB of the year, ESPN The Magazine Academic All American football team mention, Rivals.com National Offensive Player of the year, First Team All SEC selection per AP, Coaches, and Rivals.com, 2x AP SEC Offensive Player of the Year, AP Player of the year, First team All American by Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, CBS Sports, College Football News, Rivals.com, and Scout.com, James Sullivan Award, SEC Male athlete of the year, 2x ESPY for Best Male College Athlete, Disney Spirit Award, Manning Award, 2008 SEC Championship game MVP.. you know what hold on.. i have to inhale first.. you know what.. never mind.. you google the damn awards.. back to the story..

Tebow doesn’t feel he has accomplished much and after the decision to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl, he believes this should now be his chance to shine in the media’s eyes.

“Nobody ever talks about me, I’m always overlooked.. I don’t even think my name has ever appeared in a conversation that i’m not a part of”, Tebow said.

We asked Tebow if he ever watches TV or reads newspapers, because we’ve seen him more than once being mentioned by media, especially during his championship season. Tebow said the media can cause a distraction to him personally and he needs to have his mind clear so he can focus and be effective on the field.

So much for contradiction…

McCoy hoping injury hurts draft status

mccoy

It wasn’t all bad news for Colt McCoy, who injured his right shoulder in the first quarter of the BCS National Championship Game on Thursday. The quarterback is hoping some of the have-not teams at the beginning on the draft will shy away from selecting him because of the injury.

“Everything happens for a reason,” said the Texas star, “maybe God did this so I wont have to play for a team like the Rams, Browns, or Raiders. No offense to them but I’d like to play for a team that has a chance to compete every year.”

Always looking at the positives, McCoy is hoping he’ll be able to start right away on a team that is just a quarterback away from being a playoff-caliber team. “Hopefully I’ll be able to jump in and start right away” said McCoy, “I’m looking forward to the NFL and hope I can help whatever team I play for, I just hope its not St. Louis or Oakland, then my career would be doomed from the start.”

McCoy is expected to be one of the top three quarterbacks drafted in April.
