After McNabb trade, Philly fans aspire to finally win a superbowl

donovanmcnabbPHILADELPHIA- Lots of happy faces filled the streets on Sunday, after the news broke out that McNabb had been traded to Washington. The general mood out there was that the Eagles have turned over a new leaf and have had a nice breath of fresh air. “Hopefully we can go the extra mile this time” said a local Eagles fanatic.

Eagles fans have been highly critical of their team being a perennial powerhouse but not being able to win a championship. The team was like a tease everytime according to alot of fans alike. Last season did look promising but was cut short after their early playoff exit.

“Now you know why we boo’ed McNabb during the draft..” said longtime eagles fan, Justin McRowan. He also added, “time for us to play a real quarterback!.” For the Quarterback position now, the eagles have a lowly experienced starter in Kevin Kolb and an ex convict in Michael Vick. Another fan added, “I mean, seriously, what kind of team doesn’t win a championship?”. Philly fans are excited because this is the beginning of bulding their championship dream team.

McNabb, on the other hand, wasn’t the least bit slighted by the statements. He said, “Those fans are so crazy, you don’t know whether you won or lost a game. They boo you no matter what.. Maybe they’re really cheering but because of their accent, it sounds like boos!”
Mcnabb seems to be happy about the trade to Redskins, under a new staff and team, we are all eager to see how McNabb performs.

Jake Delhomme: “I want to take the Browns to the Superbowl”

panthers0307.ART_G3G167V8V.1+delhommemug.embedded.prod_affiliate.6CLEVELAND-During a press conference on Sunday, Jake Delhomme was all smiles again as he sat behind the booth waiting for the questions to start. Delhomme, now a Browns’ Quarterback, inked the deal the previous day.

Delhomme, was obviously greatful and giddy over the new deal. We had reported previously that he was worried other teams may realize he sucks after his emotional press conference that was held after his release from the Panthers. It was great to see Delhomme happy again, even for non Panther fans, as this could be seen as a new start.

Most of the questions were directed at the Browns organization, with the concern of Brady Quinn’s future. After, 10 minutes, the conference was over and everyone laid silent as Delhomme still sat at the podium. It was an awkward moment of silence until an anxious Delhomme yelled, “well!! aren’t you going to ask me!?”.

The reporters looked puzzled as to what he was talking about. One of us kindly asked, “ask you what sir?”. Delhomme replied, “ask me about what i expect to accomplish here in Cleveland!”. I felt that was a fair question and was surprised noone asked the typical obvious question like we always do to NFL players during conferences. I then, stepped up to ask away. Delhomme couldn’t even wait to finish before he blurted out, “I WISH TO TAKE THE BROWNS TO THE SUPERBOWL!! GET IT?!? HEHEHE”. Of course we got it, but we weren’t really laughing as it’s obviously an old joke.

Delhomme picked up on the failed joke immediately and finally stopped smiling and explained, “Listen, you think i wanna play for Browns? Seriously, what the hell am i gonna do here? I know i suck! but ever since I was a kid, it’s been my lifelong dream to say that in the press!” Delhomme definitely surprised us with those comments but he wasn’t done yet. “One could say I was disappointed when i got signed to Carolina, I wanted to have this moment, this opportunity to say the joke on national TV! and now I am at peace with myself”. Delhomme then closed his eyes and calmly stared at the ceiling, wearing a smile again.

For the first time ever, an athlete during a press conference had left us speechless. We fear for Cleveland’s immediate future. We would have stayed more to see what developed but we infact had to take the browns to the superbowl.

Tracy McGrady promises to get Knicks to 1st Round of Playoffs

NEW YORK – McGrady gave Madison Square Garden a glimpse of hope. Smiles were spread across everyone’s faces, despite the loss. Cameras and reporters flocked towards McGrady after the game. McGrady sure wasn’t prepared for this response since it’s been so long. He felt like a new star again.

Our interview session was quite short but informative as we managed to squeeze through the horde of New York reporters. We had to squeeze a few balls to get through the pile, and we finally got our microphone in McGrady’s Face.

He was quite candid with the interview, but after another reporter asked, “What are your goals with this team this season?” McGrady simply answered, “well I intend to take this team to the playoffs.” We all chuckled, but we found out he was serious when he continued saying, “this team hasn’t smelled the playoffs since ’03, and i’m sure their thirst for the postseason hungers greatly. That’s why I am here.” I then asked, are you going to get the Knicks past the first round?” Tmac then looked at me like i was crazy and said “you mean to the second round?? that’s asking for too much!”

Tmac has had many accomplishments but one that stands out about him is the main quip by his critics saying he hasn’t ever gotten his team past the first round.

Another reporter commented, asking Tmac how he expects to win a championship if he cant get past round one, but TMac interjected saying if the Knicks fail to win a championship, we can put the blame on him. I chimed back saying, that was not necessary and that we’re not trying to point fingers or blame McGrady but my words fell on deaf ears. TMac continued asking if we realize how much it would mean to New York to actually make the playoffs. “This team is the perfect fit for me, nobody is thinking championship right now, but 2010 free agency season! whoever the Knicks get off free agency, maybe they can help our team do that whole championship thing, whatever it is. I’m the playoff guy!”

McGrady did calm down though and said lets just focus on the now, and worry about the future when it comes, but for now I’m going to get this team to the playoffs! If we do get past the first round though, I may have to sit out the rest of the upcoming series. “My body isn’t used to playing that much basketball a year.”

Cleveland gets Antawn Jamison

I really thought they’d go for the Stoudemire deal, but I just couldn’t picture a team with Amare and Shaq at the 4 and 5 while having lebron at the 3..

IMO the Jamison deal made more sense and they still get to keep a lineup that includes Lebron Shaq Hickson West and Williams..

Jamison will have to play a lesser role than what he’s used to i bet, but hey, that team’s gonna be dangerous.

Hand the ring over to the cavs now.. i don’t think anyone in the west can beat that team.. but you never know.. playoffs can bring the best and the worst out of players..

Dallas could be favorites to win WCF

Well incase you haven’t heard.. Dallas Mavericks made a huge trade with the Wizards to acquire Voltron into their starting lineup.

Ok.. so maybe it wasn’t Voltron, but it sure feels like it. They dumped out Howard and some non house hold names and got the likes of Brendan Haywood and Caron Butler, and Deshawn Stevenson. Dallas is souped up guys.. this is a squad that already has Dampier, Kidd, Nowitzki, and Marion..
I seriously think, this’ll be their best squad since… since…. since… i think this is their best squad ever…
Of course we’ll see how the chemistry gels. Can’t have championships without team chem… unless you have Kobe and Shaq on your team.. ZZZIIIINGG!!

I’m losing confidence in my Spurs and the pressure’s on the FO.. I think he should take rofljock’s advice and go after those trades I mentioned earlier.. Right now i think the top western conference threats are lakers mavs and nuggets.. phx might surprise us tho.. but someone not named Steve Nash needs to show they are all about the team..

I hate i have to cut this blog short since i’m at work and the connection here sucks and break’s almost over. Yes, I have nothing better to do on lunch break but blog about the mavericks.. maybe I should go talk to that girl over there..

Later fans..

Thrashers make deal with Devil to ensure playoff spot

HELL- The Atlanta Thrashers have made a blockbuster deal with the Devil, guaranteeing a spot in the 2010 NHL playoffs for the team. In return Atlanta has sent Russian left winger Ilya Kovalchuck to the underworld. The Devil himself was looking for a play-maker and goal scorer to join his team in Hell to be able to finally knock of God’s hockey team, the reigning champions of the league. Atlanta jumped at the opportunity as soon as it was presented, making the playoffs for only the second time since they entered the league in 1999.

“By adding Kovalchuk to the squad, we are hoping that gives us the edge we to finally beat that goodie goodie up in Heaven,” an excited leader of the underworld said. “He thinks he can just control whatever he wants, but I know he wont be able to game plan for us with Kovalchuk on the team.” Kovalchuk will immediately join the team has the first line left winger.

Kovalchuk is currently 7th in the NHL in goals scored, and 15th in total points.

Atlanta general manager Don Waddell added, “It is good to know that we already have a playoff spot locked up for this season. We are confident that the Devil will come through on his promise, we have never had a reason to doubt him in the past.” Although it was hard for him to trade away the fan favorite and best player in team history, Waddell knows that it was the best move for the team. “We are sure the fans will understand the move. This season we will be in the playoffs!”

Atlanta is 10th in the Eastern Conference right now, but now knows fate will propel them into one of the top eight spots.

Josh Howard risks being euthanized after dismal performance this season

DALLAS- It’s been whispered around media outlets that Cuban is not satisfied with Howard’s performance this season, and has an itchy trade finger. Despite the currently achieved 3rd ranked position in the west, Cuban appears to have expected a better Howard. There could be personal injuries he’s battling while playing, but he’s listed as an active player on the roster.
We all have our up days and down days but what surprised us the most was the rumored intent of euthanizing Howard. Sources say Cuban has deemed Howard to have overused his stay and appears to be limping to the tracks.
We did remark that NBA players play on basketball courts, not tracks and that he could just trade Howard and get a player of choice offered to him in return. Cuban appeared adamant with his assessment of the situation and said that unless he starts producing again, Howard would have to hang up his saddle and pay a visit to his vet of choice.
To be honest, we were scared to ask Cuban if he actually thought Howard was a horse, but we looked at a few pics of Howard on the internet and could see where he was coming from.

Oakland Raiders among interested teams in getting Amare Stoudemire

OAKLAND- It’s no secret Amare Stoudemire’s name has been one of the most discussed this February in the scheme of NBA potential trades. It appears what makes the Suns so sure-fire of trading him is his expiring contract and what makes teams so interested is his talent and what he can do to just about any front court in the league. However, one team did surprise the media though, as it was rumored that Oakland Raiders’ owner Al Davis has been expressing interest in acquiring Stoudemire as well.

Davis couldn’t be reached for comment due to bad timing by us. We failed to contact him due to visiting during his 12 PM nap time. A spokesperson kind enough to comment to us said, “Al doesn’t even know who Amare is, I think he’s mixing him up with some other random big black guy, but hey. Big Al knows best.”

Al has had an unimpressive track record lately with drafting high picked players and has had fans and staff members worried if he actually knows what he’s doing. Unfortunately, no one’s willing to speak up as they fear they may be fired or ambushed by their fellow raider fans.

Spurs’ VP of team operations resorts to ESPN Trade Machine to save season.

The VP of team operations, Dennis Lindsey, has been pressured lately to have a hand in the trade market on bringing stars to the San Antonio Spurs and keeping them in contention for the 2010 championship. After receiving lots accolades around the league for the trade he authored, involving receiving Richard Jefferson and giving 2 packs of bubblegum and five cents, he has been pressured lately to work his magic again.

The pressure has only risen because, while the Spurs are playing with a winning record, it’s not as impressive as their high profile counterparts in the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics. Lindsey commented in an interview Thursday, “There aren’t that many big name agents available right now in the league so I have to look at the trade market. What makes it tough is that our budget isn’t favorable right now so I’ve got to pull out whatever I can to keep us in the limelight. The ESPN trade machine is my last resort as i hear it worked for the lakers in getting Pau Gasol.”

He was more than willing to share with us some trade proposals he had conjured up.
